LETTERS TO MY FORMER SINGLE SELF...

Over the years, what did you learn you needed in a significant other?  What did you learn about yourself?

In my oh so many years ;)... I learned that I needed someone reliable, someone stable, someone loving.

I really needed someone to help take care of me, and nurture me in ways that didn't happen as I was growing up. Someone slightly older than me who seemed to already have taken many paths and decided what was right for themselves. Someone who knew who they were. I didn't know who I was, and still sometimes don't really know. I needed someone who would be patient with me while I was still going through the changes of adult adolescence. Someone who could help steer me in the proper direction.

I needed a cheer leader, someone who would have my back in any venture I decided to take.  Someone who would love what I did, and push me to keep going.

I found this in my husband. He is an amazing guy, and I feel so lucky to have actually found him at such a young age (22). He might be 7 years older than me, but that doesn't matter to me. Age is only a number. He may be ahead of me in life steps, but he is right there with me when it comes to me taking those life steps that need his assistance.

After finding husband, I've learned a lot about myself. I've changed so much, and become a healthier person. I honestly have no idea what on earth I would be doing now if it weren't for him pretty much saving my life and enriching it to the nth degree. I definitely would not be living in Germany, nor would I have lived in Korea, nor would I have even really traveled. I would not have realized the changes within oneself that comes with travel. I have changed for the better. And it's amazing.

  1. This is so sweet. :) it's also so awesome that you get to live overseas and travel! I want to travel so much as well. I need to start saving up for an overseas vacation.

  2. Aww I really enjoyed what you wrote. (I can totally relate! That is my story right there, except I only learned this way later than you...met hubby when I was 30).

My husband is 5 years older than me too.

I'm very happy for you that you found such a loving person in your husband. You deserve the best lady!! :)
