If you didn't know already, with husband being in the US Army, it's not like we have a TON of money to spend all the time. No, we don't live a "lavish lifestyle". So naturally, with my friend's wedding coming up (it happened on the 28th), I was pretty perplexed at what to get the new couple. They didn't have any registry, or need for any physical things since they will be leaving here very soon. I asked my friend about it, and she said that we really didn't have to get anything for them, but it would be cool if I made something for them.
Honestly, I originally wasn't going to do anything for them, we were going to get them a card or something and stick some money in it, who doesn't love money?? Then all of a sudden, last Thursday a great thought came to me. To make something that said when their new family was established! Every couple likes stuff like that! Right?! ahha.
Anyway, I thought it would be pretty fun to show you my process on this gift!
As soon as I was done drawing up my design, I realized that I didn't have the proper pens to do any lining! So husband and I had to go on a wild goose chase to find some!
I knew what color I wanted to paint the words, but as soon as I was done painting the words I felt dumbfounded as to what colors to do the frame! My inspiration had one color for the frame, but I knew I didn't really want it that way. So I started out with the flowers and just went from there. I figured out along the way that I wanted a more organic looking deal, flowers, leaves, vines... It all fit together in the end.
I feel really proud of this gift, and I hope they proudly hang it in their future home together.
Would you like to receive something like this for a gift? Or just money?
